Apple kicks Google Maps off iPhone, adds Facebook
Apple is ditching an important Google application off its iPhone and tying up with Facebook rather than Google’s social network, as Apple distances itself from a bitter rival in the phone arena. iPhone supports Google’s Maps application since Apple launched the very first version of the phone in 2007. It’s one of the core apps on the phone, and can’t be deleted by the user. But on Monday, during the Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, Apple executives said Google Maps will be replaced by an Apple-developed app in iOS 6, the new operating system for iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. It’s set to be released late this year.Apple also said it’s building Facebook into iOS 6, snubbing the Google Plus social network. Users will be able to update their Facebook status by talking to their phones, and “like” movies and apps in Apple’s iTunes store, Apple executive Scott Forstall said.
New IOS6 software
Apple updates its iOS software every year, to coincide with the launch of a new iPhone.
The company unveiled iOS 6 in annual world developers conference, introducing over 200 new features to the popular mobile OS. It released a beta version for the developers. New iOS 6 features include an all-new Maps app with Apple-designed cartography (thus dumping Google Maps as widely reported earlier), turn-by-turn navigation and an amazing new Flyover view; new SIRI features, including support for more languages, easy access to sports scores, restaurant recommendations and movie listings.
Facebook integration
Apple is going to preinstall face book application from the iPhone5 version on wards. Facebook integration for Contacts and Calendar, with the ability to post directly from Notification Center, Siri and Facebook-enabled apps like Photos, Safari and Maps, and Shared Photo Streams via iCloud.
Display Screen
Apple looks like to have set up its display credentials for the iPhone 5 with the current 960 x 640p Retina display resolution to be plumped to a HD 1280 x 720p or 1440 x 800p offering. Finally, the 3D aspect is fully registered with the device enabling users to see more than the naked eye can possibly discern. A number of reports have suggested that the growing competition and market pressures will see Apple set up the device’s screen size from the current 3.5-inch offering to a new plus 4-inch model.
May 19, 2012 : Apple Inc plans to use a larger screen on the next-generation iPhone and has begun to place orders for the new displays from suppliers in South Korea and Japan, people familiar with the situation said on Wednesday. The new iPhone screens will measure 4 inches from corner to corner, one source said. That would represent a roughly 30 percent increase in viewing area, assuming Apple keeps other dimensions proportional. Early production of the new screens has begun at three suppliers: Korea’s LG Display Co Ltd, Sharp Corp and Japan Display Inc, a Japanese government-brokered merger combining the screen production of three companies.
Apple’s decision to equip the next iPhone with a larger screen represents part of a competitive response to Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. Samsung, which this year became the world’s largest cell phone maker, sold 45 million smartphones in the first quarter, and sales of the Galaxy phones outstripped the iPhone.
Intelligent SIRI voice assistanc

iPhone 5 will be equipped with a much more feature rich voice-control system called the Assistant than iPhone 4S. The Assistant will allow users to navigate the device and issue commands via voice. For example, you could tell the iPhone to “send a text message to John Smith asking him to come to dinner tonight,” and the Assistant will do just that. Even further, the voice feature will include an intelligent conversation mode so that you can engage in a dialog. As an example of this, you could tell the phone to “call mom,” and it might ask if you want to call her on her home number or her mobile number. Wow!!
June-12: During Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco held in June 2012, Apple announced that SIRI will support a host of new languages, including Spanish, Korean and Mandarin Chinese, Forstall said. “She” will also be able to launch applications and movies, and will run on iPads for the first time

The last four series of iphone nearly had similar look, but this is not going to happen again and it is expected that new iPhone 5 will have attractive and new look. iPhone 5 may include a whopping 1GB of RAM with the possibility to increase to 2GB within a minute with the help of a finger touch according to the requirement. It will come equipped with the A5 chip and an enhanced 8-megapixel camera. The phone will also include a Qualcomm Gobi Baseband chipset that will allow it to run on both CDMA and GSM networks. Apple is to shave millimeters off the form of its next- generation handset, thanks to the introduction of a new streamlined Sony camera sensor. Reports are even speculating that iPhone 5 will be equipped with a Samsung quad-core A6 chips.
Camera
Sony has announced a new back-illuminated CMOS sensor tipped for inclusion within the Apple iPhone 5 that will allow for increasingly thin designs with improved functionality. “This camera structure achieves further enhancement in image quality, superior functionalities and a more compact size that will lead to enhanced camera evolution.” Although unlikely, Reports have been claimed that Apple will incorporate an extra-dimensional 3D camera on its iPhone 4S replacement handset. Sony makes the camera for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
Liquipel Coating

Looking to bring an end to the watery based deaths of high-end handsets, new reports have suggested that both the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5 will add boasting Liquipel moisture repelling technology. Liquipel is a liquid coating that will waterproof your mobile device. Showcased at CES 2012, Liquipel is currently a post-production treatment that can be given to handsets ensuring that when caught in heavy rain or taking an unwanted trip into a puddle or toilet bowl, devices remain unscathed and no longer the victim of a watery based demise.
Dock Connector
Apple is considering casting aside the 30-pin connector for the iPhone 5 in order to make the device smaller and save space for new features like a 4G LTE radio, according to the reports. Changing the classic dock connector would be the end of an era and could cause problems for owners of expensive speaker docks for iPhones, iPads and iPhones. However, with the advent of AirPlay and iCloud, the need to connect the iPhone for anything other than charging has become less necessary. The new connector is “closer to a pill shape” and will find its way to all future mobile devices the company launches, according to iLounge. The 7th generation may support even cordless charging as it is already in the market by other manufactures.
NFC technology

There’s been some speculation that Apple might include Near Field Communication (NFC) technology in the iPhone 5, turning it into a kind of credit/debit card.
Integrated SIM Card
Having previously dropped the standard SIM option, new reports suggest that the handset will include an integrated SIM card allowing Apple to assign networks to individual handsets at customer’s request. The integrated chip will carry subscriber identification information and ultimately see the end of the little plastic cards currently issued directly from network service providers. This would provide consumers with a simpler shopping experience and more control over their devices.
4G LTE internet

The best radio platform technology is LTE (Long Term Evolution Technology) which is expected to be used in the iPhone 5 that is perfect for communication. It makes this device more reliable. After the new iPad’s launch brought 4G to an Apple device, it’s widely expected that 4G will come to iPhone 5. And with many 4G handsets already announced in the US, it can’t be long before the iPhone supports 4G technologies.
iPhone 5 price
Ahead of the iPhone 4S successor’s announcement, it is believed that the sixth-gen model will simply replace the iPhone 4s in terms of price points. The 16GB iPhone 4S lines up in retailers with a £499 price tag. Prices continue up all the way to £699 for the 64GB edition and models with any 128GB storage option is likely to hit the £799 price mark.
Apple iPhone 5 Release Date
Apple iPhone 5 release date has been the thing of mystery for many months with the mythical handset now expected to be unveiled in October to capitalize on the lucrative pre-Christmas shopping rush. Apple will launch the device in September or October 2012 which would fit with last year’s arrival of the iPhone 4S and this cycle seems like, will be kept for years!!
